I was delinquent in getting this posted in time for the opening, but the show is up until the end of February:

I have these two paintings in the show:

Snow Fog

Bradford Beach-Sold

Bradford Beach was painted plein air from the top of the beach house in the very early morning. Snow Fog was inspired by a photograph given to me by my mother.

Stop by for some food, drink and original art!

Schrank Family Farm

Schrank Family Farm

Continuing with the Winter theme, this is the Schrank Family Farm near Big Bend, Wisconsin.
I painted this vintage scene using a favorite photograph I took while visiting.  That is my 1980 Ford truck and the young man playing in the snow is now in his late 20's at least.  Recently he posted an image on facebook that was a little sad, a bad storm had just torn the top of the silo off, I will include that image as well.  You can make out the American Flag near the top.  It seems to me this painting should end up with the Schrank family.

The set up

Here are a couple of photos showing my set up for Door County Quiet and Frozen Bay at Dusk.  These two paintings will be at the DeLind Gallery Winter show begining in January.  More information will be forthcoming on that.  http://www.delindgallery.com/website/

Door County Quiet

When painting, and in the proverbial "zone", it is easy to not feel certain things, one of those things can be the cold.  Only when I was was packing up did I realize how cold I had become.  No longer will I pass on the big Sorel boots because I don't think I need them.

This spot was so quiet you could hear the lake ice making very deep muffled cracking and popping sounds.  Viewing this piece brings the sensations of those few hours back to me.

At this time of year even Wisconsin's busiest State Park, Peninsula, is often devoid of people.  Visiting in Summer or Fall amidst the throngs, I enjoy thinking back on how totally alone I was here.

Frozen Bay at Dusk-Sold

This was painted in Peninsula State Park at Tennison Bay on a really cold evening.  By the time I packed up it was getting rather dark and I had a hard time locating the correct path to my vehicle.  I now keep a flashlight in my gear bag.

Blog Beginings

Welcome to my Blog space where I will share some paintings I have completed and perhaps a little information about them.  Hopefully this will be of value to people who are interested in my work.  It is also a good excersise to do writing of any kind, so I know it will be of value to me as well.  Perhaps I will evolve the posts into some longer and more insightful bits, let's see how it goes.

Because we are entering the Winter season now (some will cheer and others bemoan) I will post some winter paintings soon.
